I Like To Hide Behind My Glasses

I've worn glasses (bifocals) since I was five years old! That's a hell of a long time to be wearing old man lenses. I have an Aquiline (read: Roman) nose, and even though I was totally self-conscoius that the glasses made me look like a nerd, at least I thought they kind of hid my nose. Somewhere a couple years ago I decided that I had come to terms with my "strong profile" and was kind of sick of my glasses. I can see pretty much, but I do need them for long periods of reading/movie-watching/driving. Plus, if I don't wear glasses, I can wear sunglasses instead!

Anyway, more to the point is that I've had the same Miu Miu frames for like four years now and I'm kind of sick of them. I want new glasses. I mean, ultimately, I would love to have Lasik and not have to wear glasses, but for now that's not really in the picture. I was watching St Elmo's Fire the other day, though, and I was inspired by the odd 80s retro frames worn by Demi & Rob Lowe's characters (even though his are sunglasses... I am ALWAYS in the market for new sunglasses). So, here they are:

I like the Ray Ban Clubmasters, but I think I want something a little more unique.

Same goes for the Wayfarers. They are timeless, but as much as I love them, they are a little common. I adore tortoiseshell frames, though!

I feel like Val and Kristen on BleachBlack are always posting about cool eyewear shops in LA, so maybe I'll check one of those out.

Also, all of the titles of my posts are song lyrics or titles. This one comes from Fishbone.

My jacket search/lusting after Rick Owens has become a full time job. I think I have a contender, though. I'll keep you posted.

Colliding With The Very Air She Breathes

Whenever I have no money, all I want to do is shop. Ugh.

If these weren't so overpriced/I worked a better paying job & wasn't a student, I totally love the first pair (both from 5th Avenue Shoe Repair)

Like many others, I am a little bit in love with Mad Men. Here are some still shots from one of my favorite episodes - "Shoot." I love the juxtaposition of Betty Draper's pink nails and robe with the gun/cigarette.

Also, Saturday I watched Let the Right One In. It's a Swedish vampire film. The trailer isn't a great representation of the film. It was a little weirder, not so suspenseful. But, if you are into that type of thing, it's worth a look.

Shut Off To The World

Normally I'm not much of a Gaga person. HOWEVER, I really like this picture. I like the dress (?) minus the ugly little "bra" part, I like the headpiece/antlers, I like the lipstick, the hair, and the GLASSES! Love the glasses.

That is all.

And There's Nothing Left To Bring Me Back Today

Lunar phases!
Love this picture & this idea for a tattoo
(not that I would get someone else's tattoo, but I'm a little jealous I didn't think of it first!)

It Rains A Lot This Time Of Year

This Vogue Italia December 2006 editorial reminded me of the Craft:
(If you haven't watched this movie, you should.)
