Make The New One A Good One!

Peace & Love

A Million Miles Away

I've been neglecting my computer lately. I think he is bitter about it, but it has been a nice vacation.

I uncovered this old Guess sweater in my mom's cedar closet the other day. It's warm and grungy and good.

Oh, and I have hair! -

I Wanna Listen To Boyz 2 Men When I'm With You

Hair and knitting updates soon.

In the meantime, Happy Belated Hanukkah, Solstice, or Merry Christmas, depending on your persuasion.

Here is some food for thought:

Couch Dress would eat Snuggie, no doubt.

And yes, they are charging $349.00. And YES, they offer custom fitting to your very own couch.

Granted, this thing is like 40 years old, but sometimes I really question this world we live in.

Take It Easy

Sometimes you just gotta get a little cheesy.
Now is one of those times.

Don't Quote Me Boy

Oh, yeah... I started a new knitting project! It MUST be winter break if I have time to knit. (finally!)

I'm not using great yarn on this first one, since it's kind of an experiment...
I'll show you how it turns out and include a pattern in case it actually ends up looking good once I'm done.

:)

Honey, Honey, Up In The Trees

Photobucket

I woke up early to finish getting some stocking stuffers and toys for my sister at Target - convenient excuse, right?

I tried on pretty much everything from the Rodarte for Target line (other than the shorts and skirts which had no hanger appeal for me). I thought the nude tulle/slip dress might be cute if I cut the bows off, but the fit on it was absolutely horrifying. Not only did it make me look about 30 pounds heavier in every size I tried (XS, S, M), but it made my boobs look nightmarish - unacceptable! I haven't had much luck with fitting on the Go International! lines except for the Paul & Joe one a few years back. I ended up getting the mustard lace sweater pictured above, though. It was nicer in person that I expected. I liked the nude one, but I thought the color washed me out a bit. The grey cardigan/scarf combo was soft and comfy, but not worth almost $50, in my opinion. The bathing suits looked potentially cute, too, but it was too cold for me to be in the mood to try on bikinis.

But, Merry Christmas to me! :)

Did anyone else get Rodarte things today?

This is the Jeffrey Campbell Pixie wedge. Chances are you saw it on every single other blog yesterday saying it was available on Solestruck for about $195.

I did a little research and found it on Need Supply for $135.

Apparently Need Supply caught on to the random spike in Pixie wedge hype, because this morning the price had been raised to $172. Definitely a d'oh moment on my part. (It's also on Nasty Gal for $178, if you're interested or Need Supply doesn't have your size). I think this means it wasn't fated to be, considering I still have Christmas gifts to buy. I'm thinking Minnetonka boots will be my next shoe purchase, though. I need a little break from my almost entirely black wardrobe.

Wondering If She Had Changed At All/If Her Hair Was Still Red

Yeah, I am so dying my hair. Got the dye at Wholefoods & my aunt is going to help - aka make sure I don't screw up badly (she's a pro).

Photobucket
The box I got looks like the one on the right, but I don't want it that dark. The box on the left is the same color, though. The final result depends on how dark your hair is when you start, so I'm assuming lady on the left was a blond and lady on the right was a brunette. I'm hoping for something similar to the sample in the middle, so I probably won't keep the dye in too too long. I don't need a crazy vibrant red.

Photobucket
(Photobooth had holiday stickers and I couldn't resist since I was already making that ridiculous face)
So, this is my hair now - ie long, grown out blond highlights, light brown overall
I'm not planning on cutting it at all and my friend said I was going to have mermaid hair. Kind of excited, not gonna beat around the bush (as long as I don't mess everything up terribly).

Photobucket
Coco's before and after. Granted, I won't be going THAT red (ideally) and I'm not quite that pale. In fact, pretty much everyone who looks awesome with red hair is pale, so I guess it's a good thing that it's winter.

From Morning 'Til The End Of The Day

I highly recommend you watch this video...
This is Sophie Conti. She is basically a kook with amazing style and I kind of want to be her when I "grow up."

I Was Waiting Down At The Ancient Gate

I truly feel like there is no need for me to elaborate much on this post. Navy, black, brown, tan, whatever. Mix plaid with plaid if you make it work. The only rule is to look good doing it.

Photobucket
I will say this, though - I don't think navy should count as a "neutral." I realize this picture isn't true navy, but still - technically speaking, I don't think navy counts as a neutral. But mix neutrals, wear navy, fear not! Whatev's, life's too short to give yourself a migraine when you get dressed.

Own it.

This is my favorite! Tanned brown leather with a rustic belt on black. Tooled leather is even better! All the time, this is my favorite.

Photobucket
Similar. Throw in some charcoal. Charcoal/greys + black + brown/tan = outfit GOLD.

Photobucket
Rumi rockin' it. Which brings me on to the open toes with tights. Even this I am just barely starting to get used to myself. It has to be the right tights and the right open toed shoes. None of this crap:

I Was Curled Up Underneath A Dogwood Tree

My hair is sooo fried from straightening it. I've been cutting off the really dead bits, but I need to stop before my hair looks even worse than it already does. sigh. I need my aunt to perform some emergency hair therapy, and I want to henna it, asap!

In other news, winter is here for me in two days. El Niño year and it's raining an awful lot in LA. I miss summer. Here is a little reminiscence over my summer highlights:

visited Stanford... It was SO hot.

D-land for my 20th birthday.

Again, a million degrees outside. Not raining.
