In A Lady Who Lingers, Saying She Is Lost

Hey ladies and gents! Hope you had a lovely New Year's Eve/Day. I drunkenly played board games with friends... so, you know - PRETTY WILD. obviously. hah

I've been really immersing myself in things I love this winter. I usually waver (style-wise) somewhere between a hippie and a punk (with twinges of goth, county, and classic prep, I suppose), but I've been basically drowning myself in the 1970s lately.

Music-wise, I cleaned out a record store near my house that was closing with everything from Big Brother and the Holding Company to the Yardbirds to the Dead Weather, so my ears are in a pretty good place lately. This has translated to platforms, boots, and bellbottoms.

I've also been stalking vintage turquoise rings on eBay. I've bought four so far, but two are still in the mail so I'll show you those once they have all arrived.

Here's what I've been feeling lately:

But I Hear The Voices Say

Sorry I haven't been posting much as of late. It's just hard to get inspired when I know I just have to spend my days in hiking boots and old jeans. I did an environmental service project in Washington, then I came back for an intense two weeks of exams, now I'm on Catalina Island doing some research. But island life is so laid back, so I'll be back to my normal posting. I'm starting to get summer fever, and I'm actually kind of excited about shopping again :)

Here are a couple recent sources of inspiration:

an oldie but a goodie

from the ever inspiring and creative Cocorosa... really digging the seventies vibe here, as always. I'm looking for the perfect wide-legged sailor pant that doesn't drown my 5'2" frame, as well as some more wedges for my collection. Also toying with the idea of classy bare midriff, so this outfit really pulls it all together!

I Like To Hide Behind My Glasses

I've worn glasses (bifocals) since I was five years old! That's a hell of a long time to be wearing old man lenses. I have an Aquiline (read: Roman) nose, and even though I was totally self-conscoius that the glasses made me look like a nerd, at least I thought they kind of hid my nose. Somewhere a couple years ago I decided that I had come to terms with my "strong profile" and was kind of sick of my glasses. I can see pretty much, but I do need them for long periods of reading/movie-watching/driving. Plus, if I don't wear glasses, I can wear sunglasses instead!

Anyway, more to the point is that I've had the same Miu Miu frames for like four years now and I'm kind of sick of them. I want new glasses. I mean, ultimately, I would love to have Lasik and not have to wear glasses, but for now that's not really in the picture. I was watching St Elmo's Fire the other day, though, and I was inspired by the odd 80s retro frames worn by Demi & Rob Lowe's characters (even though his are sunglasses... I am ALWAYS in the market for new sunglasses). So, here they are:

I like the Ray Ban Clubmasters, but I think I want something a little more unique.

Same goes for the Wayfarers. They are timeless, but as much as I love them, they are a little common. I adore tortoiseshell frames, though!

I feel like Val and Kristen on BleachBlack are always posting about cool eyewear shops in LA, so maybe I'll check one of those out.

Also, all of the titles of my posts are song lyrics or titles. This one comes from Fishbone.

My jacket search/lusting after Rick Owens has become a full time job. I think I have a contender, though. I'll keep you posted.
