I'm honestly not the biggest fan of this shoe, so I doubt I would buy the Marni version or the knock-off, but I just noticed this today and I've been thinking about knock-offs a lot lately, so I thought I'd post it. Clearly, the Marni version is higher quality and looks nicer. Whether this is worth a $500-600 price premium over the knock-offs is up to the shopper, though. And, not that this is out of the ordinary for Jeffrey Campbell by any means, but this knock-off is just SO blatant.

I have been dying for a PS1 bag, but there's no way I could shell out $1500 for a purse. However, I could probably cough up $100-200 for a "replica." But is this unethical? Is it unethical to charge thousands of dollars for a purse and then be offended when people try to offer a similar version for less? And are flat-out replicas (like bags from Hong Kong that literally say PS1 replica bag) worse than knock-offs that are better disguised, slightly more different from the original, and don't mention the original designer? And beyond intellectual property, if I order a bag from Hong Kong, is it still unethical because it was more than likely produced in a sweat shop?

I understand that the Proenza Schouler will be of better quality make and materials, but that doesn't change my college student budget, so I'm somewhat conflicted. Thoughts?

It's Loud And Tasteless And I've Heard It Before

So, I'm back in the blogging mood. I had been feeling very uninspired fashion-wise these past several months, but I'm kind of getting into it again. I'm on winter break for the next month with no responsibilities, so I'll try to get the blog back into the swing of things!

OK, now I know I am in the severe minority when I say this, but I hate the Jeffrey Campbell Litas. His shoes for me are usually either dead-on, or totally psychotic/"Why would anyone buy these??" I just don't get the Litas. I think they create an extremely unflattering silhouette on the foot, and not even in a cool or interesting way. It's one thing to be unflattering, but not necessarily ugly. I think it's the covered platform that does it for me. Whenever I see them on other blogs, I only like outfits that include a pair of Litas if the Litas are almost entirely hidden by a flared pant (then I can just imagine they're a cuter pair of shoes anyway). I'll end my rant now, but am I seriously the only person that doesn't get what's so great about these shoes? The Foxys are so similar and about a million times cuter. I'd rather wear those sandals and have cold toes than these horrid boots. :)

Show Your Teeth To Everyone

This time of year always makes me very conflicted, fashion-wise. It's summer. It's 90 degrees and I'm melting most of the time. I have to walk to class, and anything other than cutoffs and a tank top is simply impractical. BUT my closet is full of new fall purchases that I am dying to wear. With this confusion in mind, here are a couple outfits I've found inspiring lately:

Warm weather. Minus the jacket, even though the jacket is my favorite part and I've been looking for a good blazer.

Cool weather. Badass. And I might die if I don't get those shoes.

People keep hating on the Dolce Vita x Target collaboration, but I'm really digging this pair. I think I must buy them. The issue is now studded vs. not studded. (Knowing me, studded will probably win).

I was needing a little closet organizing inspiration. I'm running low on room and can't figure out what to part with. It's easier for me to keep my shoe collection in check, since I'm less likely to neglect a pair of shoes - they all get pretty good use, therefore they are all worth keeping. It's the clothes I can't get a handle on - I always think "Well, I might wear this someday, right?" Example: I have a shirt with the Playboy bunny on it. Tacky. I didn't even buy it. Will I ever wear it other than as pajamas? Probably not. Do I need it? No. Is it still in my closet? Sadly, yes. I need therapy.

This is the Jeffrey Campbell Pixie wedge. Chances are you saw it on every single other blog yesterday saying it was available on Solestruck for about $195.

I did a little research and found it on Need Supply for $135.

Apparently Need Supply caught on to the random spike in Pixie wedge hype, because this morning the price had been raised to $172. Definitely a d'oh moment on my part. (It's also on Nasty Gal for $178, if you're interested or Need Supply doesn't have your size). I think this means it wasn't fated to be, considering I still have Christmas gifts to buy. I'm thinking Minnetonka boots will be my next shoe purchase, though. I need a little break from my almost entirely black wardrobe.

In other news, dug up an old picture: this outfit of MK is one of my favorite outfits of all time, mostly because those shoes are dopplegangers of my FAVORITE pair of heels. Anyway, rad outfit. I love everything about it and it is certainly one of my top cold weather outfit inspirations, although personally, I need a better leather jacket since my H&M one hasn't been cutting it these days...

Although, they say they fit true to size, but only whole sizes. My size in 6.5. Therefore, these can't be true to MY size. Better too big than too small, though: I'll go with a 7, I suppose.

Platforms' Big Adventure!

On the one hand, I'm pretty short, so platforms are quite useful. On the other hand, I'm getting kind of sick of them. Whenever I see platforms, though, I kind of wish they weren't platforms at all, but were just super chunky heels. All the shoes I can find lately, though, look chunky from the side, but then the heels are actually thin from the back... so deceptive and disappointing. But is it bad that I could totally picture severely good/crazy outfits with these disco loafers?

Who wants to take bets on these disco shoes mainstreaming sometime in the near future?

Love all the motodudes, too, although the middle one kind of looks like Kevin Bacon.

OK, so I do need my job and parents, but I'm super happy with my boots! I got the Madison Biker boots by Alice + Olivia x Payless and I am positively thrilled with them. They totally fit true to size, and they are so different from anything else I own. 100% no buyer's remorse on this one. I'm going to wear them to death this fall/winter (dealing with ANOTHER heat wave in LA right now...) and they are actually really comfortable! I was impressed. Wedges are usually good like that, but it is an inexpensive pair of shoes, so I had so hesitations.

It's weird, because just looking at these boots or describing them, these boots shouldn't be aesthetically pleasing at all. The snubbed toe bit doesn't seem like it should make for much of a flattering silhouette. For some reason it kind of works, though. I guess these boots are a little bit like pigs. They're weird looking, but we love them anyway.

Anyway, here are some awkwardly staged outfit pics for you guys. I still need to figure out the best way to arrange the self-timer thing in my new apartment... I think I've come to the conclusion that I need a tripod.
