Take It Easy

As always, I wish I had a never ending supply of vintage clothing from the 70s... particularly during the summer. I've been trolling on eBay, so I'll let you know if anything interesting is won on my part.

Here are a few current inspirations:

I have vowed not to wear makeup on the daily this summer, as well as keep my hair non-straightened or blow-dried. So far so good - only 2 days with makeup and one night under the blow dryer and it's already July! I think my skin and hair are thanking me.

Always.

Love this outfit, although as someone who has worn glasses since the age of 5, I really question the whole "nerdy frames/no lenses" thing.

The stunning Ms. Pallenberg, looking wonderfully outfitted as usual. (And I'm not hating Keith's arms in this picture, either.)

She Said She Said

So this article on a renovated Victorian hunting cottage in the Catskills has been making the internet rounds, and for good reason - this house is adorable, if not exactly functional due to its lack of kitchen/bathroom. But a good picnic/camping retreat.

I have certainly never been a fan of shabby-chic or all white interiors, at least not in practice. In theory and pictures, though, they look great. And I did take away a few cool decorating ideas from this article, so I thought I'd repost the pictures.

Porch close up (they sure are beating you over the head with that English cottage feel... it's like the photographer said "We need Wellies in EVERY shot!" Super cute though - I like that the door brings in some natural green, and the flowers are a nice touch:

Great find with the mirror, and the bottles are great.

If this were me, definitely no white books. The whole charm of antique books in my mind is that they look dirty and beat up. Also, I'd probably do a black mirror frame.

And knowing me, I'd be more likely to hang a shrunken head from a door knob than a pink sachet with flowers... ick.

LOVE the lofted bed. LOVE the chandelier.

Another angle. How comfy does that all look?? I would have to stop eating in bed with white linens, though. :)

I dig the dated couch upholstery and shag carpet. That idea can definitely be revamped and done in a non-tacky way.

Get That Dirt Off Your Shoulders

So I have an unpaid internship and a part time job this summer. I know my job wouldn't mind blue hair, but I still have to figure out if it would be ok with the internship people. Otherwise, I have my Manic Panic After Midnight ready and waiting. I already did a post on my dye plans, but here's some more for inspiration:

Good turquoise, good gradient.

Kinda like how this one faded... hopefully my dye will age well, but I think I'll have enough extra dye to refresh the tips a few times when the bleach starts to show through.
