This Lifetime's Easy

Lacy bellbottoms, people.

First was the With Hearts in my Eyes pair sold at Bona Drag in lavender and black. I thought they were interesting - and loved the Courtney Brooke photography because she's a rad lady. But overall I wasn't sure how much I'd wear them, so they were too expensive ($140) to take that kind of risk.

Now American Gold (over @ Spanish Moss) has three pairs - each titles after a different Rolling Stones song, which I also appreciate. And these are a little different that the first pair - not necessarily lacy:

"Let It Bleed" - burgundy. Probably my favorite pair, but $138 is still a little pricey. Also, the three pairs from American Gold DO NOT have built in shorts like the Bona Drag pair, so probably another reason why I like the more solid burgundy pair than the next two.

"Paint It Black" - $138. I feel like these would read a little "Hot Topic" if I tried to rock those black stripes.

"Sympathy for the Devil" - $142. Velvet burnout, pretty nice looking, but I'm not obsessed or anything.

Then I thought, Hey maybe I should check up on Free People. And they did have a pair (pictured below) - at $188 (sometimes I think they should really rethink their name).

It's called the Nightcap Lace Bell Bottom and it's fine, but not worth it in my opinion. I feel like I could find a comprable pair from a bellydancer store or something. It would take some work to find a non-tacky pair, probably, but I bet it could be done.

Over on Dirty Hair Halo, she posted this modified pair of jeans she did with a lace panel:

I could totally do that (I'd probably do black) and I think they're super cute. And less than $188 for sure. She also recently blogged about her wardrobe streamlining project, and I think you can definitely see the results in her outfits lately. Feeling very inspired to do the same!

Recently I saw a crocheted pair on my ultimate girl crush location, Sisters of the Black Moon.
On a whim, I did an Etsy search and came up with this site: Once Over Twice.
They make all sorts of crocheted garments over there that are stunning, and - just my luck - they make the Sisters of the Black Moon pair (and apparently were also featured on Bleach Black)! And they take custom orders! AND about half the price of the other pairs. I'm in love. Not sure if I like the idea of a wool/nylon blend, so I might put in a custom order for a cotton pair!

What do you guys think? Love em (which pair?) or hate em?

  1. love all those pairs! I considered buying them but I wasn't sure I could pull them off. I think my favourites are the paisley print burnout ones.
