I Put A Spell On You

Photobucket

I live on a dead end/cul-de-sac kind of street, and someone had spray painted this last year, so I took a picture before it was cleaned.

Happy Halloween!!

Hollywood Forever Cemetery, Dia de los Muertos 2008

People! It's almost Halloween!! Take these exclamation points as symbols of my pure excitement. I love Halloween with all my heart. I wish I could say that I thought of some wildly creative costume, but I simply did not have time this year, due to a large influx of this thing called "real life." So, I'm being lame and doing a store-bought pre-fab deal (It's a military kind of thing, so I'm going the whole 9 yards with WWII finger waves, red lipstick, and all that jazz), but it shall not hinder my fun! Going to some parties with friends around school and then going to West Hollywood for Carnaval! I've never been before, so I'm pretty excited to see everyone in LA all decked out. I'll try to take pictures, but I don't know if it will be wise to be carrying my camera around. We'll see.

What are you all dressing up as??

I Wanna See The Sun Blotted Out From The Sky

First of all, I'd just like to take this moment to point out my long standing sadness over the lack of Heavy Metal Fashion in my life. I miss this blog dearly. No joke, you guys. There's a Heavy Metal Fashion-shaped hole in my heart.

In other news...
Jinx Dawson as inspiration, Part Deux

Here are a collection of 80s-ish pictures where she almost reminds me of Deborah Harry:

And It Teases You For Weeks In Its Absence

Photobucket

Photobucket

Today a random nerdy boy came up to me in the library while I was studying to tell me I looked pretty. It was cute/kinda made my day since this week has been so bad.

And sometimes when you're on
You're really fuckin on
And your friends they sing along
And they love you
But the lows are so extreme
That the good seems fuckin' cheap
And it teases you for weeks in its absence
But you'll fight and you'll make it through
You'll fake it if you have to
And you'll show up for work with a smile
You'll be better
And You'll be smarter
And More grown up and a better daughter or son
And a real good friend
And you'll be awake
You'll be alert
You'll be positive though it hurts
And you'll laugh and embrace all your friends
And you'll be a real good listener
You'll be honest
You'll be brave
You'll be handsome and you'll be beautiful
You'll be happy

Keep On Fighting

Rough week + rough week to come = blog neglect

I'll be back in no time (likely the next time I'm procrastinating my term papers)

Right now I'm writing about environmental ethics, doing an ecology lab report on a Southern California terrestrial field study, applying to work on a conservation project this spring break, writing a paper on the history of conservation in California in relation to the Gold Rush, working with the Sierra Club, keeping up with my Chemistry homework, working on my drawing for my Architecture class, working my regular student office job... the list goes ON and ON. Sorry. School always comes first, though!

When her first album got popular a few years ago, anyone else think, "Hey, Lily Allen looks kinda funny..."?

The Empress Josephine

Not quite a queen, but I quite like Joséphine de Beauharnais. Imagine what a nice life it must have been to sit around all day on plush furniture in gauzy gowns and have one's portrait painted. But, alas, she was married to little Napoléon Bonaparte, so I guess there's a drawback to everything. They did divorce, though - so not all was lost (the whole "no heir" issue rears its ugly head again).

She definitely rocked the royal simplicity. Not to over the top, but still with the clear implication of "I'm much more wealthy and cultured than you." (ie very French haha)

You Never Did

Actors Fu'ad Ait Aattou and Roxane Mesquida arrive at the premiere for the film 'Une Vieille Maitresse' at the Palais des Festivals during the 60th International Cannes Film Festival on May 25, 2007 in Cannes, France.

AKA THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE EVER. thanks for making me look like a green bean in comparison. :)

I'd Post Theme Song Lyrics If There Were Any...

OK, feeling irreverent ahora. I don't have any interest in posting fashion week pictures. I'm "over it" if you will.

So, let's reminisce on Hey Arnold!, a little bit, shall we?

Photobucket

Skinny girl jeans for boys before they were trendy, bringing back grunge flannel almost immediately after grunge was over, rocking the ambiguous silhouette (is it a dress? a skirt? a tunic? no... just a long shirt). Man, was that Arnold ever a trend setter! Look at that mob of kids behind him just wishing they were as cool as him, with his droopy eyelids and dazed smile. His hair is like reverse mohawk, too. Watch out, world - pretty soon Ash Stymest is going to be rocking the Arnold hair. You just wait.

What Is My Life Without Your Love

Sorry you guys, I'm feeling super sappy for no apparent reason. Blame Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward. What a top-notch couple - a true lady and a true gentleman.

Paul on Joanne: I have steak at home; why go out for hamburger?
(as told to Playboy when asked about monogamy)

Joanne on Paul: Being married to Paul is being married to the most considerate, romantic man.

Could that sound any more perfect?

Bonadrag v. Etsy Jewelry Showdown

Granted, you can usually tell the difference between $300 craftsmanship and $30 craftsmanship if you look hard enough, but Etsy is a great option for budget friendly trendier items.

Photobucket

Pamela Love Talon Cuff - $920-$1150 (seriously!?)

Photobucket

mrd74's Talon Cuff on Etsy - $46.95

Photobucket

Pamela Love Crow Necklace - $575 (apparently enough people can afford this for it to be out of stock)
